Comments: A good read from start to finish. Very nice style of writing. The story is in two strands, the past and the present. It soon becomes apparent that they are very much related involving a nanny who looks after two children of a wealthy businessman and his wife who has become ill after a fire at their London home, forcing them to move to the family house in the forest where “stuff” happens that impacts everyone in the present day.

The nanny, Rita, along with one of the children she is caring for, stumble on an abandoned child that takes to Rita. Soon. The other main character, Annie whose mother is Rita from the past.

It turns out that there is much more to these intertwined characters which has explosive and complicated results.

An excellent book by Eve Chase. Should I try another maybe?
