What a night, what a place...

Wow...
Went to see The Marriage of Figaro at the Royal Opera House in London.
The current building is the third theatre on the site, following disastrous fires in 1808 and 1856 at previous buildings. The façade, foyer, and auditorium date from 1858, but almost every other element of the present complex dates from an extensive reconstruction in the 1990s. {.boxedIn}
The building has also undergone some extensive refurbishment of the lighting. There is a fabulous article right here. {.boxedIn}

The ticket was a mere 40 quid, and we had a fantastic view from up in the gods in this fantastic building. However it did cost 12 quid for a cheap glass of wine!!
What a place! We should all be very proud of this building and what it produces. Yes, it can be expensive, but if you book early, you can get a really good, cheap seat.
An excellent night out was had...
